August birthday weekend + surprises

Andy’s birthday was Friday, August 22 and we got to spend the evening at a concert including Switchfoot, Jays of Clay, Randolph Family band and Third Day. We had a great time going with about 30 other people from our church family. In an attempt to make Andy’s birthday celebration last longer, I planned a little surprise party for him with some good friends. Taking an idea my mom did for my brother, Ethan back in junior high or so I had everyone come over Saturday morning the 23rd and we surprised him with a birthday party in the morning with doughnuts. The good thing about our garage door being broken is it gave the perfect “in” for his dad to wake him up. Al went in to wake him up telling him he came over to work in the garage door and it was stuck and to come out to the garage fast. We were all out in the garage waiting for him, thankfully Al told him to put on some shorts or the surprise would have been on everyone else!

Here we are waiting in the garage for Andy.

And here’s the day-belated birthday boy who exclaimed, “It’s not my birthday anymore, what are you doing? Can I go back to bed?”

Thank you to everybody that came and helped make him be surprised! 🙂

Later that night there was a celebration for Andy’s grandpa for his 80th birthday. All the grandkids crashed his ‘adult and elderly” party walking in with helium balloons and adding a fun mix to the otherwise gray-haired party! 🙂

Savannah has started walking and it was fun to see her going all over the place. Then continuing on with the festivities we had the celebration of all the August birthdays in the family the following day, Sunday and here’s some cute pictures from that day.
